The Gracious Central Avalonian Republic of the Free Fukyi, also known as the Fukyian Republic or simply Fukyia, is a country in Central Avalonia. It is bordered to the north by Shenewa, to the east by Morlaixie, the south by Baileneu Ma, and to the west by Terres River. The capital is Fort Marcel.
It was formally part of the colony Belle Côte, although Ovanois influence in the region was limited. After the independence of Belle Côte, the region was incorporated, but was mostly neglected in politics. During the civil unrest of the 1940s, Name proclaimed a republic from Ferrier. After intense fighting in the jungles, a truce was established in 194X.

Geography
The country is centered around the valley of the Name river, which also forms part of the southern border. The tributaries define much of the landscape. In the west, the Name mountain range cuts north to south, sectioning of the border with Terres River.
The Fukyi Republic is landlocked.
Climate
The region has exclusively a tropical rainforest climate (Af).
Environmental impact
The Fukyian Republic was dominated by rainforests. The centre of the country has seen much deforestation, with dramatic environmental effects.
Government
The country is a limited-suffrage democracy. Voting rights are only granted to those who have accomplished at least 1 year of military service, serve as an official in a public institution, or are a member of the bureaucracy. Some experts call the Fukyian Republic an Anocracy.
Citizenship
People born to a mother who hold citizenship, are bestowed citizenship, regardless of their country of birth. Additionally, one can acquire citizenship if they meet one of the following criteria: they have 'served the nation', either through military service, or through working for a public institution or the government, are married to a spouse with Fukyi citizenship and can prove a cultural link with Fukyi, can provide evidence of (being blood-related to someone) having aided the republic in their independence.
Upon acquiring a certificate, it will need to be re-validated yearly at a 'public administration office'. Failing to do so, will deprecate your certificate. A person must then reapply to meet one of the earlier conditions.
Most offices are located in cities, and in the denser populated parts in the southeast. In practice, this means most official citizens are concentrated in these areas too. They can re-validate their certificate easier, have better access to documents to prove a new-born is eligible for citizenship, and have better job opportunities for government functions. The mean distance between an office and citizens in Prezniseaux is only 5 km, while the mean distance in Nord-Ouest would require 3 days of travel single trip, due to the rugged terrain and lack of paved roads.
National service
For most nationals (as well as eligible immigrants), military service is often the only way to acquire voting rights.
Administrative divisions
The Fukyian Republic is divided in 20 provinces.

Corruption
The Fukyian Republic scores high on corruption indexes.
In a 2008 investigation, various cases of suffrage fraud were found; members of various high ranked families were given functions in local governments as to be granted voting rights. These functions were often ceremonial in nature or required minimal work. This caused public outrage, but as of 2019, only 3 court cases have been filed; all have been dismissed.
Economy
The Fukyian Republic has an unbalanced budget, with the country acquiring much debt.
The economy is reliant on producing primary agricultural resources, such as cotton, tea, coffee, raw natural rubber, bananas, and maize. Supplementing this is large quantities of tropic wood; much of this is obtained by deforestation, both legal and illegal. The west of the country sees much excavation and mining, often to the determent of the environment.
In the northern regions, production and smuggle of narcotics form a significant part of the local economy.
Infrastructure
The east of the country has a few highways, connecting the major cities to each other. Much of bulk transport to the west is done by riverboats. There are two railway tracks in Fukyia, one connecting Numoi to Ferrier via Marcionne and Fort Marcel, and one connecting Fort Marcel with Rupért (Morlaixie).
Demographics
Official census puts the population of the Fukyian Republic at circa 3.4 million. Of these people, 740,000 are considered citizens with voting rights. However, there are many undocumented residents, with estimates varying between a half and 3 million. The total population is often put on 4.5 to 5 million. In some regions (Les-Montants, Grand-Nord, Nord-Est), the unregistered are assumed to form the majority.
Many of the undocumented residents are refugees. They leave for Fukyia because of political unrest, to escape debtors, or evade prosecution. Some refugees move to the cities or agricultural centres in the south for work, while those of more illicit origin will move to the less accessible hills and north and work in forestry or stay in 'unpaved towns'.
Population groups
The lowest class are dependent on mining in and forestry of the native tropical forests. They consist of many refugee waves, and are dependent on the capital class for any money.
The 'labour' class works on the large semi-industrial rubber and fruit farms of the landholders.
The middle class is small, and focus on trade and maintenance of machinery. They consist of mostly wealthier immigrants, esp of Shenewa and Theyka.
The capital class focus on extorting the refugees and make much money on exhausting the lands. They consist of Ovancians.
The landholders are native and mixed psuedo-feudal lords, mostly tribal leaders who intermingled with the foreigners.
Culture
The country never got much colonials, and thus stayed majority native.
Languages
The predominant language spoken are the Fukyian languages. Within the republic, 3 major variants are distinguished: Northeastern (in the east), Central (in the south), and North Fukyi (in the west). A standardized variant exists, made by friar Movais Conisance. It is based on the East-Fukyian dialects. However, it sees little use outside of education.
Ovannois functions as the official government language, although it is spoken by a minority of the population; mostly ethnically Ovancians and the upper middle class in the cities. In the provinces of Haut-Est and north of Grand-Nord, Keumoine is commonly spoken. In the east, various communities are found who speak Hauamo or Huarangan Creole.
Around Lake Martin, Etrangan is spoken, which has yet to be linked to a language family.
Security
The Fukyian Republic has one national military service, tasked with border control, national defence, and policing outside of cities. It is notionally staffed by volunteers only, but for most of the population, it is the only way to acquire voting rights. Additionally, children of citizens are often conscripted under government pressure.
Some cities have their own police force.
