Protection of Sea Lanes
The Marine Nationale is tasked as its primary mission after security of the Home Islands with keeping sea lanes important to Chezzetcook national survival open. These sea lanes revolve mainly around the import and export of goods with major trade partners, and in particular focus on the importation of food for the Home Islands. Because Chezzetcook is unable to provide enough food for the population, these lines are seen as the top priority to be kept open. In order to keep these sea lanes clear the Marine Nationale is tasked with conducting patrols of said sea lanes, both as a show of potential force against potential aggressors, and as an assurance of security and safety to friendly civil and naval users.
Major Sea Lanes
The Marine Nationale has four main sea lanes to main under control, these are:
- East Tethys-Avalonia
- West Tethys-St.Croix
- Boreal
- Iapetus-Avalonia
The East Tethys-Avalonia sea lane links Chezzetcook with trade partners in Western and Southern Avalonia, and parts of Hyberia. Because the bulk of Chezzetcook food imports come from these areas, this is considered the Marine Nationale's top priority in security. The development of a naval base in Pukara in XXXX has been a major element to the continued security of the East Tethys-Avalonia sea lane by providing a permanent security presence at both ends. The maintenance of this sea lane and the vital importance of the related trade partners in the survival of the Chezzetcook populace has been the driving factor towards the national policy shift towards a Avalonia First policy. Because of this, the Marine Nationale takes a direct interest in potential issues impacting the security of this sea lane.
The 'West Tethys-St.Croix sea lane links Chezzetcook with the Western Tethys ocean, and allows links to the Illes St.Croix overseas territory. This sea lane's primary purpose is military due to the link with Illes St.Croix and long distances involved. Historically these areas provided abundant resource opportunities from fishing, guano, and natural resources.
The Boreal sea lane connects Chezzetcook with important trade partners in Northern Artemia.
The Ipaetus-Avalonia sea lane enables ties with major Chezzetcook allies and trading partners such as Zahava and Kaya.
Minor Sea Lanes
The Marine Nationale also has five minor sea lanes including:
- Iapetus-Artemia
- Iapetus-Kesh
- Eurybian
- West Tethys-Kesh
- Hyberia
